All Things Vintage

I love all things vintage.  Here is an ad from an old catalog - 1933 Montgomery Ward, I think - for fabric.  The prices are unbelievable but I am sure the paychecks were, too.   It would be nice to know how it compares proportionately to the present - I am sure there is a way to figure it but I don't think I am quite that curious!  I love the panel for the quick sewing  apron.

This is a 1933 swatch card for Newberry's.  I would certainly love to have a yard or two of each of these great prints!  Love the reproduction fabrics of the 30's and 40's.

Some batt from Sears.    Am not sure of the year this was published.

Two pages from 1952 catalog put out by Sears.  Prices had risen but not that much.  This was the time that I was just starting doing a lot of sewing for Sherry and me.  Hope you enjoyed these old ads.  (Click to enlarge)

An Old, Old Birth Announcement

While cleaning out some drawers the other day, I found a box with a few things in it and this little gem was one of them. It is a birth announcement of my husband's cousin, the son of his mother's brother and wife, back in 1930. Isn't it cute? The little pink ribbon is just as bright and pretty as it probably was the day it was mailed. It has been in that envelope with the 2 cent stamp for a long time. Thought you might enjoy this cute little item. (Click to enlarge)

I Love Vintage Graphics

If you like vintage graphics as much as I do, you will like Graphics Fairy - I just put a link to her blog on the Fun to Visit Blogs on my sidebar.

Ephemera

o2 ephemera plural : paper items (as posters, broadsides, and tickets) that were riginally meant to be discarded after use but have since become collectiblesCan you imagine prices like this? But you also have to imagine how much people made at the same time. It's all relative.
I had never heard of ephemera until two or three years ago. Started noticing it in regard to ATC's, scrapbooking, etc. I love looking around on the internet at really old stuff and have "right clicked and saved as" many really neat pictures, advertisements, etc., that I have just kind of put together as ephemera. Thought I might share some with you every once in a while. I am pretty sure that all of these things would not have any copyright problems since they are very old. You are most welcome to "right click and save as" if you enjoy this sort of thing. And you should click to enlarge.
