Tuesday evening's guild meeting was cancelled because of a lot of snow. Several things that were going to be done at the meeting had to be put on hold until next month and a task we were going to do for our annual quilt show will now be done at a Sit and Sew next week. A group of about fourteen signed up to do a secret Valentine exchange which we will do in March. When I was working on mine, the first one I did turned out just a little whopperjawed but too pretty to toss away so I finished it. I learned a couple of things from this one. Instead of cutting everything out, layering and quilting, I found out it is much easier to cut them all bigger and trim to fit afterwards. You would think I would know that anyway! The second one I did is similar to this but different! Will post that one after the meeting next time. I'm pretty sure I know what I am going to do with this one. (Click to enlarge)

Sew

Another art journal that I did sometime ago. Old advertisements were scanned and printed on fabric. The little roll of twill tape was in a box of things I bought at an auction in Illinois. Auctions are so much fun. The sticker on the tape states that it costs 12 1/2 cents and was from Clarke's Department Store in Peoria.

May is Almost Gone

.........and we caught some!! This is the little trading card I did for June of 2007. Ray and I went to Arkansas twice a year for a lot of years to fish. We really had such a good time - so many nice memories.
The following small quilts are art journals and are 8 1/2 by 11. These things are all fun to make.

Roses won't be blooming for a while yet but they're worth the wait.

This is called Summer's Here
Where does the time go? Tomorrow June starts and summer unofficially starts then. Thought I would put up an art journal (the small quilts that are so much fun to do) or two for the new season. Both of them were started on the computer. I altered the picture of the rose by changing color, then sewed on pretty little glass beads hoping it looked like droplets of rain. The other has a picture of a cute girl I found on the internet that I printed out on transparency film then transferred it to fabric with the use of a gel medium. There are so many fun things like that to do.

An Art Journal Quilt

A few years ago, a group met to make art journal quilts which are the size of a sheet of paper. This is one I made using a photo of my Mom and Grandma, some old tatting, and a funky flower with a button center. Everything was scanned, designed on the computer and printed out. I love working on the pc. (Click to enlarge)
